Raynor pretty much grew up on a supply ship. He didn’t have much schooling, and never really stayed in one place for very long. But he wouldn’t trade it for the world. There’s a certain freedom that came with the ship being your own little world, going wherever you wanted, aside from the drop points that paid the bills to keep it flying. Even the sky was pretty much all his. The family was the crew, and everyone learned how to do a little of everything. But even before his feet could reach the floor from the pilot seat, Raynor was learning how to fly the ship.

So when he struck out on his own, he kept to that line of work. He even had a small shipping company for a brief time before deciding he just want cut out for management. He never actually fought in the war, and doesn't entirely understand what was so bad about the Alliance. But he and others in his line of work were prime targets for pirates and Reavers looking to re-supply. That and the kind of waypoints and bars he frequents aren’t the friendliest places in the Verse. So he aint weak, and that aint nothin.

Usually the alliance prefers to get people with a little more formal education for something as secure as a prison. But he had a life-long track record and some friends who could pull strings to get some consistent work making weekly runs to the Rock. It was an easy gig, and most scavengers steer clear of the low-quality prison rations on a ship smeared with Alliance tags. And the prison was such high security that no one could ever give him trouble when making a drop...
